Setting up the Daily View screen

Two steps and today’s plan will be up on the wall.

By Phil Martin, founder of Daily View · 2 minute read

  1. Set up the viewer screen

On the tablet or display itself:

    1. Plug it in and connect it to your home Wi‑Fi, as you would with any other device.
    2. Open a web browser and go to dailyview.org/display
    3. Add it to the home screen so it reopens automatically if the screen restarts:
      • iPad (Safari): tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up) at the top of the screen, scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then tap Add.
      • Android tablet (Chrome): tap the menu button (three dots, ⋮) at the top right, tap Add to Home screen (on some tablets it says Install app), then tap Add.
Then open Daily View from its new icon, and connect it from there in step 2. If you connect it in the browser instead, the icon may not stay connected.
  2. Pair the two together

Back on your own phone or computer:

    1. Sign in to your Daily View dashboard then go to Devices → Add device and give it a name (e.g. “Mum’s kitchen screen”).
    2. You’ll see a short code and a QR code which is valid for 15 minutes.
    3. Back on the viewer screen, in Daily View opened from its icon, type the code into the box shown there and select Connect.

That’s it. The screen updates itself automatically from here. Find it a stable, plugged-in spot where it’s easy to glance at. The person using it never needs to touch a setting or log in.

If they touch the screen, it opens My calendar so they can look at the days ahead, then goes back to Daily View by itself. You can change how this works, or switch it off, in the dashboard under Settings → Viewer access.

Sign in to your dashboard → Already have an account? Sign in to get your pairing code.

Still stuck? Email support@dailyview.org and I’ll help you sort it out.
